The plans were filed with the city and withdrawn within a week, records show.
SEATTLE — A popular Pacific Northwest ice cream chain appears to be looking into adding a location in the heart of Seattle.
Salt and Straw, based in Portland, filed plans with the city of Seattle for a new location across from Pike Place Market last week. However, the permit requests were then withdrawn just a few days later. The reason for the withdrawal was listed as “site plan not ready yet for submittal.”
The location would have been at 102 Pike Street, which formerly housed a Starbucks. The plans indicated Salt and Straw planned to adapt the 2,453 square-foot space into a take-out only ice cream shop.
The company did not announce anything about the potential new location or the withdrawal of the application. Salt and Straw already has two other Seattle locations (Ballard and Capitol Hill) along with one in Totem Lake. There are also locations inside T-Mobile Park and inside Microsoft’s Redmond campus.
In early January, the company did confirm it plans to open a new location in Queen Anne at 2201 Queen Anne Avenue North.
