Was Friday the greatest day in the history of the Wendy’s Frosty? Who can say?
I can say. I’ve been reviewing these creamy, icy treats for longer than I’d care to admit. The Ohio-based chain had released nine special flavors of their iconic dessert, and I’ve tried them all. These seasonal offerings have ranged from terrible like peppermint and strawberry, to amazing like orange Dreamsicle and the most recent Thin Mint.
Wendy’s dessert menu grew exponentially on Friday with the addition of SIX new Frosty flavors. Well, technically it was just three new variations of their classic vanilla and chocolate Frosty desserts. And you can only them through the Wendy’s app until Tuesday when they become available on the regular menu.
But alas, we now have the Frosty Swirl — consisting of a flavored syrup swirled into a Frosty. Brownie batter, strawberry and caramel swirls are at your disposal. As a Frosty aficionado, I had to try all six variations.
So yes, I ordered six Frosty desserts. For myself. The people working at the counter took pity on me, first telling me how much they liked the caramel version of the treat, and then giving me six spoons like I was going to some sort of Frosty Party.
I was not. I was trying all the Frosty Swirls myself so I could taste and rank them.

6. Strawberry Vanilla Frosty Swirl
Woof. The first one I tried, and I knew from the first bite it was going to be my least favorite. The strawberry syrup they swirl into this Frosty is so painfully artificial it almost tastes like chemicals. There’s a reason nobody gets those strawberry sundaes from ice cream joints, they’re almost always saccharine and medicinal. This is worse than the strawberry Frosty they released in 2022.
5. Strawberry Chocolate Frosty Swirl
Still not great, but the chocolate base stands up better to the fake strawberry flavor than the vanilla Frosty. This is a far cry from a chocolate-covered strawberry, but at least it isn’t off-putting like the vanilla version.
4. Caramel Chocolate Frosty Swirl
The salted caramel Frosty from last November was one of the better season offerings, so I had high hopes for this one. But as much as I love the classic chocolate Frosty, that base proved to be overpowering in this situation. You can hardly taste the caramel.
3. Caramel Vanilla Frosty Swirl
I find the vanilla Frosty to be mostly underwhelming on its own (chocolate forever) but it turns out to be a better mixer for the Frosty Swirls. While the chocolate washed out the caramel, the vanilla base complimented the caramel nicely.
2. Brownie Batter Chocolate Frosty Swirl
Before tasting any of these, I assumed this would be my favorite flavor. And it is very good! The brownie batter swirl adds a nice rich, chocolate flavor and crunchy texture that reminded me a bit of Smucker’s Magic Shell ice cream topping. I figured chocolate would be the best pairing with the brownie batter, but…
1. Brownie Batter Vanilla Frosty Swirl
Vanilla plus brownie batter equals the best Frosty Swirl. The delicious chocolatey brownie swirl was contrasted nicely by the vanilla base. While this wasn’t as good as the Thin Mint Frosty (which I contest is the bets Frosty ever… frosted?) this was the best of the bunch. If you’re going to get one new Frosty (and not six like a fast food psychopath) this is the one to get.
