ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – A one-time fundraiser could become an annual event in Ithaca.
On April 20, the Tompkins County History Center held its first Ice Cream Sundae Showdown to help support operations, and it was a success, particularly since it took place on Easter Sunday.
Attendees sampled various sundaes created from locally submitted recipes and voted for the best. Executive Director Ben Sandberg said over 350 people attended the one-day event at the Ithaca Downtown Conference Center, adding they “literally ran out of ice cream” in a release from the History Center in Tompkins County.
Given the success and feedback, Sandberg added that the Sundae Showdown could potentially be a “signature community fundraiser and anchor of future programming.”
