Ben & Jerry’s is one of the most creative ice cream brands on the market, known for unique flavors like Phish Food, The Tonight Dough, and Chunky Monkey. We haven’t even reached midyear yet, but it’s already released five new flavors: Vanilla & Fudge Brownie, Chocolate & Fudge Swirl, Strawberries & Cream, Coffee & Fudge Chip (all part of its Scoop-apalooza line), and Chocolate Caramel Brownie. Even among premium ice cream brands, there’s no one quite like Ben & Jerry’s.
That said, a pint of Ben & Jerry’s can sometimes cost up to $7. If shelling out that much cash for ice cream feels too steep, you’re in luck. Thanks to Reddit, we just discovered how you can get the Ben & Jerry’s experience from one of our favorite budget-friendly stores.
Aldi’s Sundae Shoppe Ice Cream Pints
According to Reddit, Aldi carries copycat versions of Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Brownie, Half Baked, and Cherry Garcia flavors. At Aldi, these pints are named Make Fudge Not War, Brookie Dough, and Thank You Cherry Much, respectively.
While Ben & Jerry’s pints typically retail for $7, Aldi’s Sundae Shoppe pints are only around $4. “It’s legitimately just like Ben and Jerry’s but probably half the price. It’s very good! I’ve never seen this before until today!” a Redditor wrote. The post has already garnered 60 comments and over 300 upvotes.
Aldi’s Chocolate Brownie flavor features chocolate ice cream with chunks of fudgy brownies. Meanwhile, the Brookie Dough intersperses vanilla and chocolate ice cream with chocolate chip cookie dough and brownie chunks. And finally, Thank You Cherry Much features cherry ice cream with cherries and chocolate chunks.
“I get a couple pints of Brookie Dough every visit, it’s fantastic. Their Cherry Garcia clone is also great!” another fan chimed in.
“Shhh! I can’t have everyone buying my favorite item. It’s so so good,” added another Redditor. Two other shoppers boldly proclaimed that the ice cream is “even better” than Ben and Jerry’s.
This isn’t the first time Adli shoppers have taken to Reddit to share the find. Two years ago, a fan commented under a post about the ice cream, “I fully believe with my whole heart that these ice cream pints are B&J’s. The fudge brownie one is so good, it tastes exactly like the name brand.”
According to fans, you can currently find these copycats on one of the top shelves of Aldi’s freezer section. We’re crossing our fingers that the line will one day expand—we’d love more Ben & Jerry’s copycats! For now, we’ll make do with these three delicious flavors.
