Maddy’s also offers customers ice cream truck livestream on Facebook
Maddy Silvagnoli, the owner and operator of Maddy’s Ice Cream Truck and More, has become quite a character – an animated character, that is.
A new YouTube series, “Maddy’s Ice Cream Adventures,” will allow children to follow “Cartoon Maddy” and her magical ice cream truck as they search for colorful treats, discover sweet surprises, sing catchy tunes, and learn fun lessons in each episode.
Silvagnoli, who is currently enjoying her second season driving her ice cream truck through neighborhoods in Gardner, Hubbardston, Westminster and Winchendon, said she was inspired to create the animated series after seeing how much customers enjoyed a “Cartoon Maddy” coloring book that she began handing out over the Memorial Day weekend.
“I made the coloring book, and a lot of people liked it, so I decided to turn myself into a cartoon character for children to watch because my target audience is children,” said Savignoli, who studied drafting technology in high school. “I have three children, and I know that once they like something, they’ll watch it over and over and over.”
Animated series aimed at being fun and educational
Recent episodes have included “Maddy’s Jingle Jangle Jukebox,” “Maddy’s Tasty Counting Song,” “Maddy’s Ice Cream from Around the World,” and “Maddy’s Ice Cream Dance Party.” Silvagnoli, who writes and produces each episode by herself – along with an assist from computer-generated software and AI technology – said her goal with the series was to entertain and educate.
“When I began to think about my ice cream truck as a character, it really opened up a lot of doors when it came to coming up with crazy adventures we could go on,” she said, adding that ideas for the series come to her during her daily routes through local neighborhoods. “I’ll have an idea for the next day and start writing things down, and then in the morning when I wake up around 4:30, that’s when I really start to get creative.”
Salvignoli said she was trying to release a new episode of “Maddy’s Ice Cream Adventures” each day, and she has been pleased with the reaction the series had received from fans so far.
“Everybody’s kind of surprised because it’s so out of left field, I think, to suddenly have a YouTube series that customers can watch with their children,” she said. “I have a 3-year-old, and two days ago she just randomly began singing one of the songs from the show. That was amazing that she remembered.”
Maddy’s Ice Cream Truck also offers live behind-the-scenes video on Facebook
Salvignoli said that her second season had been “insanely busy,” and that her new online ordering system, which allows customers to request her ice cream truck to drive through their neighborhood, has proven to be very popular.
“People are definitely out there looking for us or messaging us to come to their street,” she said. “It’s been a big hit.”
Salvignoli is also offering customers the opportunity to go behind the scenes of her truck each week with a live video feed on her Facebook channel.
“Yesterday we were in Winchendon, so we had the camera on and people can watch us driving around and scooping the ice cream and see themselves at the window,” she said. “And people can ask us live questions online. It’s a lot of fun.”
