Across the region, there are ice cream vans parked up at parks and shopping centres and travelling around offering sweet treats to battle the hot weather.
While the hot weather can mean profitable days for the ice cream van owners, it can also mean uncomfortable working conditions for those operating the vans.
On a hot, close and somewhat muggy Saturday afternoon at Queens Shopping Park in Stafford, Karl Simcock was operating one of the two Tony’s Ices vans, one of Stafford’s most popular ice cream sellers.
He said that it was often very hot and uncomfortable inside the van, although he also said that it was part of the job.
