Amber Lee (Duvos) Callies, 74, of Mankato, MN passed away on the morning of December 18, 2024 at Ecumen Pathstone Landing after living with Alzheimer’s for 10 years.
Amber was born on August 15, 1950 in International Falls, MN to Lowell and Helen (Franklin) Duvos. She graduated from Falls Sr. High School with the class of 1968. On June 7, 1969 she married David Chute. They had 2 children together, Brenda Chute and Paul Chute. She later married Fred Callies on April 28, 1987.
Amber was a homemaker for several years before beginning work at Pizza Hut. Amber and Fred lived in various places throughout their time together including Rainy Lake, Mankato, St. Paul, Duluth, and Carlton. While in Mankato, Amber worked for Keeper’s RV and while in Duluth she decided to go back to school and graduated with honor’s from Duluth Business University as a Certified Medical Assistant. She worked for several years at Puumala Clinic in Cloquet.
Amber enjoyed home decorating, reading, dancing, sun bathing, shopping and gardening. She loved kids and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She and Fred traveled after their retirement, visiting family and friends along the way. They spent many summers at their cabin on Namakan and winters at their condo in Galveston. Amber always loved spending time with her girl friends wherever she was. Her favorite food was whatever was on anybody else’s plate, and always ice cream.
Amber was survived by daughter Brenda (Jennie Hauffe) Chute of North Mankato, son Paul (Erika) Chute of San Antonio, Texas; stepchildren Darci Graves of Fort Worth, Texas, Robert (Jackie) Callies and Tricia (Steve) Yeathermon of League City, Texas; grandchildren Alex, Anna, Isabelle, Hayden, Quentin, Kyle, Nick, Christian, Kayla, Cambria, Rhiannon, and Torianna; brother Raymond (Lori) Duvos, sister Vicki Gordon, sister and brother-in-law Ivy and Herb Hanson; special cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederic; her parents; father and mother-in-law Bill and Patricia Callies, brothers Randy and Rodney Duvos, brother in-law John Gordon, sister-in-law Linda Cottrell.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ecumen Pathstone and Mayo Clinic Hospice for taking such good care of her.
