South Ayrshire Council approved proposals to transform the former Royal Café and Filippo’s Bistro premises in New Road.
The planning application, which was submitted in January, sought a change of use, alterations and extension of the existing café to form three interconnected offices.
The waiting area near the front door would be changed to offices.

Many of the other features of the building would remain the same, including kitchens, bedrooms and toilets.
In a report of the handling of the case, a council official said: “The proposals will facilitate the re-use of an existing commercial unit which has lain vacant for some time.
“The proposed office use of the premises is considered to have a less intensive use then compared to the previous use as a cafe restaurant, the use of which would have likely included evening and/or weekend use.
“It is not considered that the proposals will have an adverse impact on the amenity of the neighbouring properties.
“There are no policy objections to this proposal and it is considered that this proposal does not have an adverse impact on the character or amenity of the surrounding area.”
The award-winning Mancini family successfully ran the Royal Café for many years, but the premises has been available to let for several years.
The plans were approved with conditions.
Under a statutory condition of all planning permissions, the works must start within three years.
