Child hit by truck while in line at Michigan ice cream shop, police say

MONTCALM COUNTY, Mich. – A 12-year-old child and four other people were injured after a truck drove through the seating area of an ice cream shop in Michigan, state police said.

The crash happened at around 7:40 p.m. on Monday, April 14, in Howard City, which is located within Montcalm County.

An investigation revealed that a car was heading southbound on Ensley Street and turned into the path of a pickup truck, according to Michigan State Police.

The truck then hit the car and went through the outdoor seating area of the Dairy Bear at 433 Ensley Street.

After that, the truck hit two more cars before coming to a stop.

A 12-year-old child, who was standing in line at the ice cream shop, was hit by the truck and taken to the hospital. The child’s condition is unknown, according to MSP.

Four other people were also taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
