There’s some exciting news for Leopold’s Ice Cream fans. The popular historic shop now has a second standalone location on Whitemarsh Island.The original location opened in 1919 on the corner of Gwinnett and Habersham streets in Savannah, later relocating to Broughton St. There are also two shops inside the Savannah Hilton Head International Airport.The new location is located on 107 Charlotte Road off Highway 80. Leopold’s Ice Cream owner Stratton Leopold said this location is smaller than the one on Broughton St., but he expects the Whitemarsh Island location to not be as busy. Leopold explained the new location will be more of a community shop. “We want to be part of the community here in terms of participating in schools and churches. Just to be good citizens and members of the community and in this area,” said Leopold.The new location will include the same ice cream flavors as the one on Broughton St., as well as indoor and outdoor seating.
