New D-FW Handel’s to give away free ice cream for a year to 100 customers

Ice cream is the go-to summer treat, and there’s a way you can earn free ice cream for an entire year.

A new Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream shop, in Prosper more than 30 miles north of Dallas, is giving out a slew of goodies and merchandise when it opens June 26. That includes 100 Free Ice Cream for a Year passes for the first 100 customers at the new Handel’s opening. The recipients of the passes will be able to pick up one small sugar, cake cone or dish every week for a year for free.

Mike and Angela Davis, the husband and wife behind the new location, were inspired to open a Handel’s while sitting outside eating ice cream at the brand’s McKinney outpost, more than 10 miles away.

“It would be nice to have one closer,” Mike said.

Opening the eighth Handel’s location in Dallas-Fort Worth, the duo said they were excited to bring the “iconic brand to avid fans.”

On the shop’s opening weekend, Mike said customers can expect activities, such as face painters and balloon artists, too.

“I hope we can meet and exceed customers’ expectations for the quality of the ice cream and service,” Mike said.

The new Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream is at 201 W Frontier Parkway in Prosper. It opens June 26.
