The new Parachute Ice Cream location in Oak Bay has everyone talking.

Located at 2548 Windsor Rd., the Oak Bay spot is the third location for Parachute Ice Cream, with stores in Langford, and downtown Victoria.

The new Oak Bay location opened earlier this month.

“It’s really great here. We’ve been welcomed by the community, which is so lovely. Everyone in Oak Bay is amazing and they just welcomed us with open arms,” said Alisa Campbell, Parachute Ice Cream staff.

The ice cream is all made in-house at the Bridge Street location and is “made with really awesome ingredients,” says Campbell.

Some of that rich flavour, of course, comes from milk, cream and eggs.

And they have vegan options as well, replacing eggs with coconut milk.

They also make frozen yogurt from water buffalo milk. 

Ahead of Easter weekend, mini egg was a popular flavour among some customers.

And for those who want to savour the experience, over a dozen flavours come in pint-size containers for customers to enjoy at home or at a favourite destination.

Meanwhile, the local company’s cones are almost as popular as the ice cream. 

“Waffle cones are made in-house,” said DiDi Kahl, Parachute Ice Cream employee, adding, “they’re so fragrant you’ll be able to smell them from blocks away.”

Staff say that working for Parachute also has its perks, especially when it comes to sampling for quality control purposes.

“It’s just part of the job,” said Campbell with a smile.

When they’re not sampling, they’re delivering joy in a cone — or pint — for all ages.

“I like that that’s what we’re giving the community here. Just these moments — albeit short — of bliss,” said Kahl.

Campbell added, “Everyone that comes, you’re never in a bad mood because you’re getting a sweet, silly little treat, you know?”
