Mrs. Carmen Gutierrez’s bilingual third grade class was awarded a pizza party by New York State Sen. Monica Martinez on Monday for winning the Spring Break Read-a-Thon, with a total of 76 books read by the class.
Mr. Pete Rotolo of Hunt Enterprises and owner of the Central Islip McDonald’s joined Sen. Martinez to congratulate the students and provided each of them with a coupon for a free ice cream at their neighborhood location.
Principal Brett MacMonigle and Assistant Principal Rebecca Garcia also joined in congratulating the students and encouraged them to keep reading throughout their summer break.
