PLAINVILLE, CT — A local ice cream shop which suffered a two-day power outage during the recent heat wave is slated to reopen this weekend.
Lacroix’s Homemade Ice Cream, at 161 Woodford Ave., Plainville, will be open for business on Sunday, the owners said.
Sean Williston and Lauren Minty, the co-owners, thanked their customers for their kind words and support in recent days.
The pair said they “can’t wait to scoop for you again,” in a Facebook post announcing their reopening date.
According to Minty, the business lost power from Monday night, June 23, through Wednesday night, June 25.
“We lost all our ice cream – hundreds of gallons,” Minty said.
The business was able to save some cream and other ingredients with the help of nearby local businesses, including Blue Plate Tavern and Gnazzo Food Center.
With the power back on, the ice cream shop has been busily remaking ice cream so customers can get their favorite flavors.
When the business first announced it had lost its ice cream inventory due to a power outage, customers offered encouraging comments on Facebook, such as “I am on my way with a straw LOL.” Another poster wrote, “We will be here when you are ready! I am not going anywhere. Please stay cool and take care of yourselves first!”
