Pop-Tarts Have Now Entered The Freezer Aisle

We’ve tried Pop-Tarts cereal (and also cereal-flavored Pop-Tarts). Pop-Tarts with pictures printed on the frosting. Pop-Tarts as poppable pastry snacks in lunch boxes. But for some reason, we’ve never tasted Pop-Tarts as an ice cream flavor, unless we crumbled them up at home to sprinkle on a scoop of vanilla.

That changes now, because Pop-Tarts have finally entered the freezer aisle. The toaster pastries have morphed into ice cream sandwiches in three flavors, and they are available at local Walmarts as we speak.

As you’d expect, each cold treat consists of two traditional Pop-Tarts sandwiching a layer of ice cream. Frosted Chocolate Fudge Ice Cream Sandwiches have a chocolate ice cream center with a chocolate-fudge-flavored swirl. Frosted Strawberry Ice Cream Sandwiches are filled with strawberry ice cream with a strawberry swirl. And Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon has cinnamon-flavored ice cream.

Rumor is that scoopable pints of Pop-Tarts ice cream will be unveiled sometime in June. Instagrammer markie_devo reports that Frosted Strawberry, Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon, and Frosted S’mores flavors are in the works.

Pop-Tarts will also make its way to drive-thrus very soon in a first-of-its-kind collaboration. Wendy’s will be using chunks of strawberry Pop-Tarts Crunchy Poppers in its new Strawberry Frosty Fusion starting May 12. Sounds like we’ll be cooling off with Pop-Tarts quite a bit this summer.
