Friday is the first official day of summer and, while Eugeneans don’t wait for a warm, sunny day to do most anything, here at The Register-Guard, we’re on the search for the perfect summer treat. We’re starting with ice cream and asking our readers, “Where should we go to grab a scoop?”
Eugene has an abundance of local ice cream shops. Prince Puckler’s might be the most well-known, given it’s situated next to the University of Oregon campus and locally dubbed “Obama’s favorite.” But new shops have popped up, including Handel’s, Peek-A-Boo Delight, and Salt & Straw, which are definitely contenders for the crown.
Each shop offers something special: Prince Puckler’s has seemingly endless choices, Handel’s has more classic ice cream flavors, and Peek-A-Boo Delight and Salt & Straw have more innovative options to try.
All of this being said … take your vote! Let us know which ice cream shop you’ll be stopping into again and again this summer.
The poll will close at 5 p.m. on June 20.
