The City of Cookeville Leisure Services announces the opening of the “Shining Bright Over Cookeville: 75 Years of the Cream City Sign” exhibit, a presentation focusing on the historical significance of the Cream City Ice Cream sign in downtown Cookeville. This exhibit will be open to the public from April 5 to May 24 at the Cookeville History Museum.
The exhibit will feature displays detailing the historical development and community presence of the Cream City sign. Information regarding the evolution of ice cream production and consumption will be presented, alongside information about the maintenance of neon signs. Additionally, the exhibit will include original containers from the Cream City factory, providing tangible artifacts related to the sign’s history. To establish a broader historical context, the exhibit will incorporate information regarding significant world events that occurred 75 years ago. An interactive art activity, designed for children, will be available within the exhibit space.
An opening reception for “Shining Bright Over Cookeville: 75 Years of the Cream City Sign” is scheduled for Saturday, April 5, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Cookeville History Museum. This reception will provide an opportunity for attendees to view the exhibit before anyone else, engage with the presented materials, and enjoy free ice cream.
