Summer officially kicks off on June 20, and according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, you may want to start stocking up on ice cream, pineapple casserole, and icy cold Cokes and planning a beach vacation now. That’s because the weather forecasters at the Farmer’s Almanac predict that this year will be the hottest summer ever.
While summer 2024 currently holds the title of the hottest summer on record, 2025 is coming in hot. As in, very, very hot. The folks at the Almanac expect this year to take the title by July. The trusted source of long range forecasting says, “July and August will bring above-normal temperatures across most regions, with only a few exceptions. ”
For those keeping track at home, this will be the third year in a row that the mercury has tipped high enough to make the hottest summer on record. According to the Almanac, summer 2024 was also Earth’s hottest summer since global records began in 1880 and this year could beat that record.
The summer heat is expected to kick in around July and stay hot through August. The Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts that Texas and Oklahoma are expected to have to suffer through temperatures up to 4°F higher than usual.
Those in what the Almanac calls the Deep South can look forward to “significantly warmer conditions.” It will be so hot, you could fry an egg on the sidewalk and will undoubtedly want to set the air conditioner so low it will be throwing snowballs.
