Thelma’s just made it easier to buy ice cream sandwich treats in bulk for the summer.

The Des Moines-based ice cream sandwich company is now selling its products at Costco stores across the Midwest, including Iowa. Thelma’s ice cream sandwiches began hitting the shelves of Costco at the start of June, a spokesperson from the company told the Register in an email.

The handmade ice cream cookie sandwiches started as a local farmers market favorite and the company has since grown to more than 6,000 retail locations, according to Thelma’s website.

What states are Thelma’s Treats available in at Costco?

Thelma’s Treats are on the shelves of more than 100 Costco stores across 10 states. Products will be available throughout the summer, according to Thelma’s Treats.

While the initial launch is regional, the company hopes for additional rotations in the Midwest and beyond, the Thelma’s spokesperson said.

Costco stores in these states will carry Thelma’s ice cream sandwiches:

  • Iowa
  • Missouri
  • Ohio
  • Kansas
  • Minnesota
  • Michigan
  • Illinois
  • Wisconsin
  • Nebraska
  • Kentucky

What kind of Thelma’s treats are offered at Costco?

You can’t just have one ice cream sandwich, especially during the summertime. Which is why Thelma’s products at Costco come in the form of a 10-pack of Snickerdoodle ice cream sandwiches.

The sweet treat comes with vanilla ice cream and Great Grandma Thelma’s original cookie recipe, according to the spokesperson.

Where does Costco have stores in Iowa?

Costco has four stores in Iowa, including two in the Des Moines metro area:

  • Ankeny: 4000 N.E. Spectrum Drive
  • Coralville: 2900 Heartland Drive
  • Davenport: 2790 E. 53rd St.
  • West Des Moines: 7205 Mills Civic Parkway
