UDF celebrates milestone birthday with low-priced ice cream comes
To celebrate its 85th birthday, United Dairy Farmers is offering a special deal on ice cream cones for one day only. On Thursday, May 8, all customers can purchase a single-dip ice cream cone for just 85 cents. UDF opened for business on the eighth of May, 1940, selling fresh milk in a store. Founder Carl Lindner, Sr. employed his three sons to help build the storefront. After building shelves and cabinets for the store, Lindner sought out farmers in Milford and Goshen, purchasing wholesale unprocessed milk to sell at a lower price than home delivery. Eighty-five years later, UDF sells milk shakes, ice cream pints, milk, and gas. Customers can also purchase waffle cones for 99 cents, and chocolate-dipped waffle cones for $2.49.
