When was UDF founded?
When UDF was born in 1939, milk was still delivered to homes by milkmen in pint-size glasses. Carl Lindner Sr., the company’s founder, wanted to change that. He planned to open a store where customers could go and buy fresh milk anytime they needed it and pay less for it.
The first UDF location officially opened May 8, 1940, in Norwood, Ohio. The ice cream-selling chain has since expanded to nearly 200 stores in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
