Wild Scoops serves up summer fun for solstice

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Summer is officially here!

At Wild Scoops in Anchorage, folks are celebrating the season with the perfect summer treat — ice cream.

During the summertime, owner Elissa Brown said their Test Kitchen off Benson Boulevard churns upwards of 200 gallons of frozen deliciousness daily.

“They say that Alaskans eat the most ice cream per capita. So I mean, we gotta be good,” she joked.

Between seasonal flavors like Campfire S’mores or Rhubarb Crumble, to year-round favorites like Sitka Swirl or Wild Blueberry, Wild Scoops appeals to locals and tourists alike, Brown says.

Brown described their creations as “adventurous, community-oriented ice cream.”

“I believe really strongly in the power of storytelling through food, and I think ice cream in particular is a great example of that,” she said. “We try to make flavors that have a sense of place. When you try them, it feels distinctively Alaskan.”

Wild Scoops has three locations — one in midtown, and two in downtown Anchorage.
