TROY, Ala. (WSFA) – Every once in awhile we like to loop back around and see how our County Road 12 folks are doing.
We first met Ethan and Tyler Whatley in June of 2020. It was during the pandemic. There were masks and social distancing, but these young boys were on a mission. With some help from dad getting started, the 6-year-old and 12-year-old were owners of 2 Brothers Frozen Treats. Now Ethan is 12 years old and big brother Tyler is 17.
“We’ve come a long way,” said Tyler Whatley. “I didn’t think it would last this long.”
Over the years, they’ve learned some good lessons.
“Managing your money and communicating with people and kids just having fun really.”
As you can imagine, two brothers working together, don’t always get along.
“We get into it sometimes,” said Ethan. “But, we do do work together a lot.”
“We kind of get into it sometimes, but that’s what brothers do,” said Tyler. “But we come together a lot too.”
For their customers young and old, these guys have it down to a science. If you want it, they likely have it.
“We have characters, ice cream sandwiches, Bomb Pops, strawberry shortcakes, Chocolate Eclairs, cookies and cream bars, chips galore,” said Ethan
Tyler’s heading into his senior year and soon will be off to college. But, Ethan says he has a baby brother who should be ready to fill in, in a few years to keep 2 Brothers serving up smiles. Ethan says they’ll still keep Tyler’s face sticker on the truck.
“We’re gonna leave him on here, and just add his (baby brother’s) face here.”
When they’re not handing out sweet treats they’re hanging out with gamers. They also have 2 Brothers Rolling Video Games. They go to schools, daycares, churches, wherever the party is. Two young men who are well ahead of the curve when it comes to running a business.
