To celebrate the summer solstice — otherwise known as the longest day of the year — the grocery chain is kicking off an epic ice cream giveaway that will leave your inner child feeling giddy.
Much like summer, this deal will be gone in the blink of an eye, so we’ve rounded up everything you need to know to cash in on the frozen freebie while supplies last.
Kroger is giving away 92,000 pints of ice cream in total
Kroger knows there’s nothing quite as satisfying as savoring a cool treat on a sweltering summer day, so the retailer is rolling out a giveaway you’ll want to scoop up before it’s gone.
On June 20, Kroger will mark the first day of summer by giving away 92,000 pints of free ice cream. The company chose the number to signify the 92 glorious days of summer.
How to obtain the coupon
Customers can visit FreeKrogerIceCream.com to download a single-use digital coupon for one free pint of Kroger Brand ice cream. It can be redeemed between June 20 at 12 p.m. EST through July 4, while supplies last.
The coupon is valid in all U.S. states except California, Colorado, Louisiana, Tennessee and Nevada, and can be redeemed at all Kroger family of stores excluding Mariano’s, Metro Market, Pick ‘n Save and QFC.

Each coupon is valid for one free pint of Kroger Brand ice cream, including classic flavors or the retailer’s new Summer in a Pint collection, which features the following ice cream and sherbet varieties:
- Italian Style Summer Fizz: Blood orange-flavored sherbet with popping candy clusters and a blood orange-flavored ribbon.
- Fireside Nights: Toasted marshmallow- flavored ice cream with s’mores pieces and an orange swirl.
- Sandy Shores: Coconut-flavored ice cream with a pretzel crunch.
- Poolside Tan Lines: A mix of vanilla bean, chocolate and coffee ice creams.
Kroger is also offering customers one more change to save on ice cream
Between June 20 at 12 p.m. EST and July 4, Kroger customers can also take advantage of a $1 off coupon that’s valid when they purchase two Kroger Brand ice cream pints.
The offer is valid in all banner stores excluding Mariano’s, Metro Market, Pick ‘n Save and QFC.
