Bear swipes 3-gallon ice cream bucket from Tahoe shop

KINGS BEACH, Calif. — The owner of a Tahoe ice cream shop says a bear broke into her business and swiped a 3-gallon tub of ice cream on its way out.

Beth Moxley, owner of Tahoe Time Ice Cream and Coffee Shoppe, said she and her crew were cleaning up the shop and took a lunch break around 1 p.m. However, they moved a trash can outside while cleaning, and when they returned, they found it knocked over.

When they went inside, they saw one of the ice cream freezers opened and a 3-gallon tub of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream missing.

They found the bucket outside and also spotted the suspect, a bear, now dubbed “Cinnamon,” trying to find its way back in for another heist.

In a Facebook post, Moxley said the damage could have been a lot worse.

She told ABC10 that bears are becoming more fearless but not more dangerous. She wants people to be more “Bear Aware.”
