Blue Bell Ice Cream is making fans’ dreams come true with the return of a long-lost favorite: Groom’s Cake. And the sweet reunion is just days away.
After winning The Great Scoop Revival Flavor Tournament — a fan vote held across Blue Bell’s website and social media last summer — Groom’s Cake Ice Cream is finally making its way back to stores. The flavor officially returns Thursday, May 1.
So, what’s inside the carton that conquered the competition?
Blue Bell says it’s a decadent combo of chocolate ice cream, chocolate cake pieces, chocolate-coated strawberry hearts, and generous swirls of strawberry sauce and chocolate icing. Basically, it’s what happens when your wedding cake takes a chocolatey honeymoon.
Blue Bell says Groom’s Cake edged out other retired fan-favorites in a bracket-style contest that drew big engagement across Facebook, Instagram, X, and its website. And clearly, fans weren’t quiet about what they wanted back in the freezer aisle.
What about Cookie Cake Ice Cream?
The company says Cookie Cake is also on the way — though not quite yet. Blue Bell teased the return, saying both Groom’s Cake and Cookie Cake would be added to its 2025 lineup. But so far, only Groom’s Cake has a confirmed release date. When asked about Cookie Cake, the brand responded, “More details soon!”
Cookie Cake features sweet cream ice cream with chocolate chip cookie cake pieces and swirls of chocolate and vanilla icing — a flavor fans have been craving since its disappearance.
For now, Groom’s Cake gets the spotlight — and fans are ready to celebrate with a spoon.
