Explore Rosie's Ice Cream in Buffalo for cool treats

With the hot weather here, there’s a cool new place to take the family in the heart of Buffalo’s West Side.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — With the hot weather here, Western New Yorkers have a cool to place to check out in the heart of Buffalo’s West Side: Rosie’s Handcrafted Ice Cream.

“We now make all the ice cream here at West Utica at this location here in the city,” owner Deacon Tasker told 2 On Your Side. We supply it down to our East Aurora shop and our ice cream truck.”

Tasker and his wife Cassandra first started Rosie’s, named after their oldest daughter, in 2021 in East Aurora.

“It fulfilled a dream we had to own a business together,” Deacon said. “What better way to do it than with ice cream?”

It’s something that started as a hobby for the couple, as they explored how to make funky, homemade flavors.

“The very start of it was 2011,” Cassandra said. “We made lavender ice cream and it was delicious. We still sell that in the shop. It’s our Honey Loo ice cream.”

The new location not only has an ice cream counter and a large production facility, but also a bar serving beer, wine, and homemade hot pockets.

“We are definitely an ice cream shop that serves beer and wine, not a bar that serves ice cream,” Deacon said. “What a better date night spot, than ice cream and a glass of wine? It’s a lot of fun.”

Rosie’s is open daily from noon to 10pm, and they’ve got plenty of dairy-free and gluten-free options too.

“Going through our first summer here, it’s been awesome,” Deacon said. “The community has embraced us.”
