SILVIS, Ill. (KWQC) – Families got to participate in a hands-on event this Memorial Day weekend in Silvis.
The Touch A Truck event gives families the opportunity to explore different types of vehicles, several including firetrucks, police cars, construction vehicles, tractors, and emergency vehicles.
Those who attended were able to learn how the different vehicles operate, along with their uses, talk to the professionals who operate them, and take some photos.
One family who attended said the Touch A Truck event gave her kids the chance to see the cars and people they idolize in our community.
“It’s wonderful,” said Tabitha Oles, Rock Island resident. “It gives the kids a chance to get up and close with the trucks. Especially ones they see every day that they love, the police cars, a great chance for them to see what these people they idolize, what their cars actually look like.”
Those in attendance also got to enjoy some free ice cream alongside the trucks.
