Fight cancer, eat ice cream at 42nd Scooper Bowl | News

As the calendar’s page turns to the month of June, we enter the official start of the hot summer season.

New Englander’s know there is no sweeter way to beat the summer heat than with a creamy and delicious dish of ice cream.

For those looking for a cool way to kick off the summer season while also supporting an important cause, you won’t regret a visit to the 42nd annual Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl event, located at Boston City Hall Plaza.

This three day event is the largest, all-you-can-eat, ice cream festival featuring more than 900 gallons of ice cream and frozen treats supplied by favorite local and national ice cream brands.

Ticket sales for this event support the Dana Farber Cancer Institute’s mission to defy cancer.

The Jimmy Fund is the fundraising arm of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, which is located in Boston.

Founded in 1948, The Jimmy Fund is named after a 12-year old cancer patient who was referred to only as “Jimmy” to protect his privacy while being interviewed on a national radio broadcast.

During the interview, Jimmy expressed a desire to have a television by his hospital bedside so he could watch his beloved Boston Braves baseball team.

Thousands of listeners were moved by Jimmy’s story, and donated money to fulfill Jimmy’s wishes.

The donations far surpassed expectations, and were more than enough to provide Jimmy with his television and also start the non-profit fund that would bear his name.

The Jimmy Fund is now the official charity of the Boston Red Sox and The Massachusetts Chief Of Police Association, and is the beneficiary of many annual fundraising events such as the Pan-Mass Challenge and the Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl.

The first of three days of the Scooper Bowl event is Tuesday, June 3, 2025, offering unlimited samplings of ice cream along with live entertainment, music and family friendly games and activities from noon to 8 p.m.

Wednesday, June 4, 2025, also offers the same family fun event from noon to 8 p.m, with the addition of a Sensory Friendly Hour from 11 a.m. to noon. This added hour will provide a music-free, lower crowd version of the Scooper Bowl event.

The final day of Scooper Bowl is Thursday, June 5, 2025, with plenty of ice cream and family friendly activities offered from noon to 5 p.m.

Starting at 5 p.m. on the final day, is the Scoop at Night event, considered the “closing ceremony” for the Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl fundraiser event.

Scoop at Night is a 21+ event that combines the fun of a “happy hour” with the pleasure of unlimited ice cream consumption.

Enjoy all you can eat ice cream, live entertainment, and games, and your ticket price will also include two drink tickets for beer and wine which will be provided by several different local vendors.

Although all ages are welcome to the Scooper Bowl part of this three-day event, please note that attendees for the Scoop at Night event must be 21 years or older and ID’s will be checked at the entrance.

The Scooper Bowl can be enjoyed with a one-day, or three-day pass, and tickets to the Scoop at Night event can be purchased separately from the Scooper Bowl tickets.

Tickets are available at the door, or you can skip the wait in line by purchasing tickets in advance online at www.danafarber.jimmyfund.org.
