Three-year-old Comet the Golden Retriever knows a good thing when he sees it — especially when it comes to ice cream. The semi-sneaky pup was recently caught red-pawed trying to sneak off with a whole tub, doing his best not to get caught by his mom!
Comet’s mom posted the funny video to TikTok at the end of May. The video starts with the pooch already holding the pint of Häagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream in his mouth, while mom asks if she can have it and tries to make a grab for it. But Comet’s not willing to give it up and makes a run for it down the hall with the sweet treat!
Cometalmost got away with stealing the treat, Mom says in the video’s caption. You’ve gotta give him an ‘A’ for effort, but he needs to work on his sneaky skills…he was much too obvious about it!
Commenter @Urban Wolfie made us laugh when they pointed out, “The way he looked at you and turned around LOL!” @Donnell Winchester spoke for all of us when he said, “That is the cutest ice cream thief I’ve ever seen!”

Can Dogs Eat Ice Cream?
While ice cream might be one of your favorite treats, it’s not a good one for your pooch. Our canine friends might initially enjoy slurping it up but may experience some yucky side effects afterwards.
Dr. Jerry Klein, DVM, Chief Veterinarian for the American Kennel Club explains, “Many adult dogs are lactose intolerant to varying degrees, which prevents them from properly digesting milk products,” says Dr. Klein. “If you feed these dogs milk products, they can experience anything from severe to mild gastrointestinal discomfort—loose stools, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain, or gas. Dairy products with high fat content can also cause pancreatitis in dogs.”
Not only that, but ice cream has high fat and sugar contents, which can lead to weight gain and obesity. Dr. Klein reminds, “Even if the ice cream container says it’s sugar-free, you need to be careful to read the label to make sure that it contains no xylitol, which is extremely toxic to dogs.”
But you can make your own dog-friendly ice cream! Check out the 3-ingredient recipe here.
