“How I Met Your Mother” star Josh Radnor recalled Kings Island memories to The Enquirer, even saying he prefers the park over Cedar Point.
Who knew that 2025 would be the year of iconic Cincinnati collaborations?
After partnering with two Cincinnati staples, Skyline Chili and New Riff Distilling, earlier this year, the local ice cream chain released its wildest creation yet on May 23: Beast Feast Cookie Dough Unleashed.
This limited-time flavor, inspired by The Beast roller coaster at Kings Island, consists of a cookie butter ice cream blended with “monster-sized” chunks of sugar cookie dough and rainbow sprinkles, per a press release.
“This collaboration captures the joy of two Cincinnati icons,” owner Chip Graeter said in a statement. “It’s cookie dough unleashed, just like the roller coaster itself. You won’t want to miss this one!”
Graeters’ bonus flavors are considered limited-time offerings, and once a flavor is gone, it is retired for the year. Beast Feast can be purchased at Graeter’s scoop shops, online, and at the Graeter’s location on International Street at Kings Island.
Other new flavors coming to the menu this summer include Lemon Blueberry Crumble, Pineapple Passion Sorbet, Minty Brownie, and Caramel Pecan Cheesecake, per the release. Details about these flavor releases will be announced throughout the summer.
History of The Beast roller coaster at Kings Island
The Beast, built for $3.5 million (which is approximately $16.4 million today), first opened in 1979 as the world’s longest wooden roller coaster, according to the Guinness World Records website, and has held that title ever since.
As of 2019, The Beast had given over 48 million rides. The park announced in March 2022 that it would extend the track by 2 feet, breaking its own record.
This brought The Beast’s length from 7,359 feet to 7,361 feet. Ride time for the 1.4-mile track is 4 minutes and 10 seconds.
The roller coaster also includes 137 feet and 141 feet of vertical drops at different angles, a 125-foot-long underground tunnel, eight banked turns and a 540-degree helix tunnel that speeds up to 64.77 mph.
