Graeter's outdoes Skyline collab with new bourbon ice cream

Graeter’s Ice Cream is collaborating with a local staple yet again.

Just months after releasing its Skyline Chili-flavored ice cream, the Cincinnati chain has teamed up with the Northern Kentucky-based New Riff Distilling to launch a brand-new flavor: Graeter’s Bourbon Ball Ice Cream.

So what’s in it?

The dessert incorporates the distillery’s award-winning bourbon with Graeter’s beloved small-batch French Pot ice cream. The bourbon-infused ice cream features whiskey-glazed pecans and dark chocolate chips. It’s also made using a hand-selected single barrel of New Riff bourbon. (In case you’re wondering, the ice cream contains less than 0.5% alcohol by volume, so kids can order it at Graeter’s, too.)

I got to try it Friday before the rest of the public can Saturday. Here’s what I thought.

How is the Graeter’s New Riff bourbon ice cream?

My gosh, this pairing is just so natural. The pecans taste like they came straight out of a bourbon-infused pecan pie, and you can even taste hints of whiskey in just about every bite, which gave the ice cream a nice spice.

The signature Graeter’s chocolate chips, which I would take over any other chocolate chip in the world, added the perfect amount of sweetness. I work from home on Fridays, but I wish I could have been in the newsroom to share this moment with my colleagues, because this treat is an epic amount of deliciousness.

As someone who loved the Skyline Chili-flavored ice cream, I think this is even better. It has more flavors in it and isn’t quite as simple as the cinnamon spice dessert.

I give this a 5/5 and encourage bourbon and non-bourbon lovers to try it.

How and where to buy the Graeter’s Bourbon Ball Ice Cream

The new flavor is available to order now at Graeters.com. It will be available at New Riff’s gift shop, 24 Distillery Way in Newport, beginning Saturday, April 12, and all Graeter’s scoop shops starting Monday, April 14.

Bourbon Ball Ice Cream will also be sold at Meijer, Jungle Jim’s and Dorothy Lane Market stores this spring.
