Ice Cream Parlour in Barcelona by El Equipo Creativo

Adrià has developed a concept for a luxury ice cream parlour inspired by perfume-making principles. Similar to the numbering of perfumes, different numbers are assigned to the flavours. In collaboration with the Spanish architecture firm, a minimalist ambience has been created in which the ice cream flavours are presented like precious artefacts. Despite their restraint, the designers have also emphasised contrasts oscillating between cold and warm, or opulent and understated.

The centrepiece of the parlour is the counter displaying the various flavours of ice cream. Clad in luminous green textured glass, its surface conveys a certain freshness while complementing the colours of the different flavours. The walls are dominated by metallic and champagne tones, forming a subtle backdrop that emphasises the luxury of the products on sale. A backlit display case recessed into the wall is the most evident reference to perfumery, presenting the ice cream flavours like jewellery boxes.

The theme of frosty elegance is evident throughout, not least at the ice cream counter. Upon entering, you are greeted by large hexagonal lamps made of textured glass. Their bluish, crystalline appearance provides an attractive contrast to the green of the counter. Due to a recess in the ceiling, the lamps appear to float like ice crystals above the entrance area, offering a glimpse of what lies beyond. The storage area also has doors made of blue textured glass. The new ice cream parlour thus offers a refreshing design experience for all the senses, as well as culinary refreshment.
