A new ice cream shop will open in Loveland on Saturday, May 31. It’s standing out and not just because of the sweet treats it serves. It’s all hands on deck for a *sweet launch this Saturday. With every step, there’s a scoop and smile. “Scoopable” is dishing out more than just ice cream.It’s providing meaningful job opportunities for young adults with disabilities, like for 25-year-old Aaron Westendorf.”Scoopable is one heavenly place to get ice cream,” Aaron said. Aaron’s passion for people is on full display when he’s on the clock.”We are one big team and that’s why we help each other, love each other and be motivated by each other,” Aaron said. For Elizabeth Osterday, this is much more than a job.”The best part is just like meeting new people and like having fun,” Elizabeth said. It’s empowerment. “I become more independent,” Elizabeth said. “I work well with others and have fun.”Owner Amy Pennington is turning a long-lived dream into making a difference.”Setting limits on them is just– they won’t have it,” Amy said. She’s a mom of three, and two of her kids have disabilities.”I’ve seen parents come in here and bring their young kids with disabilities come in, and they kind of get a little sense of hope that their kids will one day be able to see more of a can instead of a can’t attitude,” Amy said.It’s an inclusive workplace where the only thing cooler than the ice cream is this mission behind it.”Every scoop makes a difference,” Aaron said.When asked what lessons they’ve learned while on the job, both Aaron and Elizabeth say they have mastered the art of serving ice cream and interacting with customers. Aaron says he’s also learned to always be himself.That grand opening is on Saturday, May 31, at noon.
