Ice cream shop moving into old Zesto location on Forest Drive in Columbia

It looks as if people may still be able to get their ice cream fix at the same location.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A new restaurant is moving into the former Zesto on Forest Drive, just months after that community staple closed down.

A sign posted on the door this week of the now vacant building said, “Coming soon! Mo’s Dairy Bar.” The note did not give any details on a potential start date.

While no further details were available there, online records for the store, located at 3239 Forest Drive, list Mohammad Saadeddin as the registered agent. Saadeddin is a well-known restauranteur in the area who also owns Noma Bistro on Main Street as well as Cat Daddy’s Cat Cafe.

Zesto’s owner closed down its location on Forest Drive at the end of last year. It was known for its milkshakes, ice cream cones, and Zesto dogs. The restaurant had been at that location for 75 years, ever since 1949. The West Columbia location remans open under new management.
