Ice cream trail kicks off for the summer

The 8th annual ‘Scooped: An Ice Cream Trail’ returns from May 29 through September 7.

PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Making the summer sweeter in the Keystone State as an annual trail returns.

The 8th annual “Scooped: An Ice Cream Trail” is underway. More than 50 creameries across the state are participating from May 29 to September 7.

This annual event helps promote the dairy industry in the state.

“This is really an event about showing folks why Pennsylvania’s a great place for agriculture and a great place to visit, a great place for tourism,” said Secretary Rick Siger, Dept. of Community & Economic Development. “And really, I don’t think you could argue that everybody needs a good reason to get out and eat some ice cream.”

Ice cream enthusiasts can explore shops with their smartphones to add points to their digital passports.

By participating in six or more ice cream shops (One ice cream shop check-in is worth 100 points), you’ll receive a commemorative stainless-steel tumbler. If you earn up to 1,000 points, you can enter to win an overnight getaway in Lancaster County to experience “life on the farm.”

Participating ice cream shops in our area:

  • Manning Farm Dairy
  • Old Mill Creamery
  • Sprinkled Sweet Bakery & Artisan Creamery
  • The Lands at Hillside Farms
