BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — At McDonald’s on 25 W. Hibiscus Blvd, the Melbourne Police Department held a community event that brought smiles, and plenty of ice cream. “Cone with a Cop,” which ran until 6 p.m., gave local residents the chance to meet and chat with their friendly neighborhood officers while enjoying a free ice cream cone.
Families, children, and community members of all ages stopped by to take part in the sweet event. Officers mingled with attendees, answered questions, posed for photos, and handed out cones with a smile. The informal setting created a comfortable space for building trust and connection between law enforcement and the community they serve.
“This was such a fun way to meet the officers and let the kids see that they’re approachable and kind,” said a spokesperson. “Plus, who can say no to free ice cream?”
The event was a resounding success, filled with positive interactions. The Melbourne Police Department expressed their gratitude to everyone who showed up to make the afternoon so special.
“Community engagement is a top priority for us,” one officer shared. “Events like this help build relationships, and we’re so happy we got to spend time with our neighbors today.”
With friendly faces and frozen treats, ‘Cone with a Cop’ proved that sometimes, the best conversations happen over a cone.
