Ludhiana: There was panic in Sunder Nagar area of Giaspura after a lizard was allegedly found in an ice-cream. As per reports, a seven-year-old child had bought two ice-creams from a street vendor. While he was eating the ice-cream, he “found” a lizard in the bowl and immediately informed his grandmother about it. The report suggests that after the incident, the area residents caught hold of the ice-cream vendor, who was allegedly selling ice-cream in the area even after he came to know about the lizard being found in it.Narinder Kumar of Sundar Nagar in Giaspura said an ice-cream vendor was selling ice-cream, and the child bought ice-cream from him. He suggested that after eating the ice-cream, the child fell ill and was taken to the hospital.The child’s grandmother said her grandson had bought two ice-creams, and as soon as he went home and started eating the ice-cream, a dead lizard came out from the cone. She added that after her grandson showed her the lizard, she told the street vendor not to sell ice-cream in the area, but the street vendor did not listen and continued to sell ice-cream in the area.Local sources said that this made the area residents angry, and they caught the street vendor. They added that later, the cart was taken to the police station and a complaint was lodged in the matter. Local sources further said the child was fine after he was taken to the hospital. They added that the presence of a dead lizard in the ice-cream has raised questions about the checking of local ice-cream factories in the city.Meanwhile, the health department officials said action would be taken in the matter. District health officer Amarjit Kaur said the matter had been brought to her notice, and they would collect samples from the ice-cream factory. She added that action will be taken in the matter as per norms.Meanwhile, an area resident said that the ice-cream vendor defended himself and claimed that the product comes packed from the company and eely sells it.
