Lick’s Uptown ice cream shop on 7th Avenue in Phoenix is Richard Dolan’s pride and joy. This is definitely my baby. It’s my blood, sweat, and tears, really. He opened up shop 3.5 years ago. It’s popular with locals who bring in steady business. I’m OK with. The money that I’m making right now, I guess I don’t have to make *** lot of money. I just want to pay my bills. So it was *** big gut punch when his shop was robbed last Friday night. This is surveillance video 30 minutes before closing time of the suspect walking in. He looks like *** regular customer, no mask, no gloves. But then he pulls out *** gun from his bag and tells two teenage employees to open the register. The girls remained calm. As the man grabs about $300 in cash, this outside camera shows him running toward 7th Avenue. Dolan says the employees are OK, and he’s proud of how they handled *** very scary moment. It was just amazing. They knew exactly what to do. Unfortunately this is the 2nd time his shop was hit. He says *** robber stole $150 *** few months after opening the store. I don’t think people realize, you know, like. I mean maybe from the outside it looks *** lot different, but from the inside it’s just you know every dollar counts. Loyal customers don’t get why anyone would want to steal from *** place that has little to take from. Rich is like almost like *** one man job. I know he’s got employees here, but this is like his passion project and coming in in this economy that we’re in, you know, money’s hard to come. these days and intimidating young people and doing this to them at gunpoint is just is just horrific. It makes you really like look at every single person that walks in the door because he didn’t look like he looked like *** pretty normal guy. Dolan wants this guy caught and for him to know the value of what he took from his shop. I worked almost every day for 3 years just to get to where I’m at and like get your own, man. Like don’t take it from me. I’m *** little guy, especially that I’m *** little guy.
