Tipsy Scoop boozy ice cream shop opens in Portland

The “barlour” offers alcohol-infused ice cream in all forms, including a Portland-exclusive flavor of Marionberry Martini ice cream with Wild Root.

PORTLAND, Ore. — An alcoholic ice cream shop is now in town.

The grand opening of Tipsy Scoops commenced Friday at 4 p.m. at 3987 North Mississippi Avenue. The “barlour” offers ice cream in all forms: scoops, sandwiches, sundaes, cocktails, cakes and a flight of four flavors infused with — you guessed it — booze.

The New York-based chain has several locations, mainly on the East Coast, and is set to open five more in Nashville, Phoenix, Baltimore, Pensacola and Miami.

The Portland shop is offering exclusive, local flavors, like the dairy-free Marionberry Martini ice cream with Wild Roots Vodka. For Cinco de Mayo, they’re offering tequila-infused flights and Piñata Colada sundaes.

Other mixers include the Elvis Whiskey Midnight Snack, banana ice cream swirled with peanut butter and infused with peanut butter-banana-bacon whiskey; the “Mom-osa,” raspberries-and-cream infused with Lunetta Prosecco’s Prosecco Rosé; the Yave Tequila Pineapple, pineapple sorbet infused with a hint of lime, as well as Yave Tequila’s coconut-infused blanco tequila; Cake Batter Vodka Martini; Mango Margarita Sorbet; and more.

You must be 21 or older to consume the alcoholic-infused ice cream.

For people who don’t want or need booze in their ice cream — for instance, kids — Tipsy Scoops has a variety of alcohol-free flavors — classics like vanilla, chocolate, mint-chocolate and cookies and cream — and mocktail-inspired ice creams.

Also on the menu is alcohol on its own — beer and wine — as well as alcohol-free hot cocoa and coffee.

For those who want a pick-me-up, you can buy four pints and get a free tote bag.

The Portland location already has community events on its calendar: ‘Boozy Brunch Ice Cream Cocktail Mixology’ on May 17 and ‘Wine Wednesday Ice Cream Cocktail Mixology featuring Portland Syrups’ on May 21.
